3 Player Drinking Card Games #1. You Bet Your Liver

Number of Players: 3 or more
Best Alcohol: Beer

Materials Needed For This 3 Player Card Drinking Game:

  • Deck of cards
  • Tall glass or beer boot
  • Individual beers for everyone playing

How to Play

  1. The first player begins by pouring a little bit of their beer into the glass—however much they want. This constitutes a bet.
  2. The player then guesses either black or red, and flips over a card (or a separate dealer player can flip over the card).
  3. If the player was right, play immediately passes to the next person.
  4. If the player was wrong, they must drink the glass before passing play to the next person.
  5. When a lot of players guess right in a row, the glass can fill up pretty quickly.
  6. Players can also choose to bet on suits or numbers, although the rules may get a little more complicated this way.
    • When betting on suits, players should choose their suit and then only drink if they are correct. If they’re wrong, they add to the glass without drinking. This variation makes the game a little more high-stakes.
  7. Players can choose to bet seconds instead of volume. For example, the glass would already be full, and a player would bet 5 seconds on their turn. If wrong, the player then has to chug for five seconds.

3 Player Drinking Card Games #2. Blackjack

Number of Players: 3 or more
Best Alcohol: Beer, or any

Materials Needed For This 3 Player Card Drinking Game:

  • Deck of cards
  • Shot glasses and enough beer for everyone playing

How to Play

  1. Play blackjack as normal, using basic rules.
    • Players are dealt one card face down and one card face up to begin with. The dealer also plays a hand the same way.
    • Players can check their face-down card, but the dealer and other players may not see it.
    • The goal is to total 21 or as close to 21 as possible in a hand.
    • Cards with numbers are equal to their number in value. Face cards equal 10, and aces can be either 1 or 11 depending on the player’s choice.
  2. If a player scores 21 on a hand, they can force any other player to take a shot. However, for each time that player hit during the hand, they can assign an additional shot to another player. Therefore, if the player hit twice and then scores 21, they can make another player take three shots.
    • Depending on house rules, some games of blackjack may not allow the dealer to be forced to drink. Others might.
  3. If a player has the ace of spades and jack of clubs, this is a blackjack. Everyone else has to take a shot, including the dealer.
  4. If a player busts, they must take two shots.
  5. There is no penalty or incentive for standing.

  2. Place the deck of cards face-down stacked on top of the empty beer bottle.
  3. Players take turns blowing on the side of the deck of cards, trying to knock off some of them.
  4. The goal is to knock off a few of the cards at a time but not all of them.
  5. If a player doesn’t blow off any cards, they must take a shot.
  6. If a player blows off some cards, they do not drink, unless one of the cards is an ace. A player who blows off an ace must take a shot.

Number of Players: 3 or more
Best Alcohol: Beer

Materials Needed For This 3 Player Card Drinking Game:

  • Deck of cards
  • Individual drink for everyone playing

How to Play

  1. Each player is dealt one card face down. The rest of the cards are put in the middle of the table, also face down.
  2. The first player can choose to either keep their card or trade it with the player immediately to their left. Players may look at their own cards during this process, but cannot see the other players’ cards.
  3. The only way to prevent having to trade your card is if you have a King. Kings are the highest card in the game, so if someone tries to trade with you and your card is a King, you can show the rest of the table and get out of the trade.
  4. The last player can choose to either keep their card or trade it for the top card of the center deck.
  5. Each player only gets one turn per round. The player with the lowest card value loses and has to drink.
